French Polynesia has everything you ask for; crystal clear waters, remote islands, top-diving and free diving, kitesurfing, spectacular marine life, great fishing, dramatic nature and much more.
During our time here in French Polynesia we would like to invite YOU to explore the place with us onboard our 38 feet sailing catamaran named the Bay Dreamer. You will sail with us as a crew member and you will be APART of our ADVENTURES and EXPERIENCES in the area!
Tahiti , Bora Bora, Tuamotos, The Society Islands, The Gambier Islands and also the spectacular islands of Marquises up in the north is some of the places we will explore during our time over here.
Before we found this paradise of ours we had to sail over 40.000 miles across 4 different oceans. We have visited more than 4 continents and 38 countries so now when we have found what we are looking for we have made the decision- We will stay a whole year before we continue our journey around the rest of the planet.
The crew
Onboard the boat you will find Anna 31 and Daniel 38 together with our 9 year old dog Vera- “The sailor”. Before we left our old life back in Stockholm- Sweden we basically had to sell everything we owned to afford our new floating adventure home. We started our journey from Croatia in the Mediterranean sea where we also bought our new friend – the Bay Dreamer!
Our crew members
During our time on the sea we had more than 100 guest-crew-members sailing with us and we are used to have new crew members onboard our floating home. Many have returned and sailed with us again which is a great indicator of that life onboard the Bay Dreamer is great! As a crew member you will have the true experience of sailing and you will be apart of something instead of being served 24/7 on an expensive charter boat. This might also mean that you from time to time will have to get dirty and help out during your stay onboard- you are after all a crew member!
The boat
Bay Dreamer is a very well equipped sailing boat with a capacity of 4 separate rooms, 2 toilets/ showers, dive compressor, 4 sets of dive equipment, snorkelling gear, spearfishing gear, fishing gear, water maker, SUP (stand up paddle board), BBQ, kite boards and much more. Besides all the toys she is also extremely well equipped when it comes to safety. We have dual navigation and communication systems, radar, autopilot, sat-phone, both EPRIB and AIS-transponders, lifejackets for all crew members and also off course a big ass life-raft for 10 people.
How much does it cost to sail with us?
Bay Dreamer is a non-profit boat. We are not making any money from our crew members but we are all sharing the expenses while sailing together. The running cost of Bay Dreamer is 500 euro/week per person. This covers food, water diesel, cooking-gas, maintenance, spare-parts, sat-communication, boat insurance etc

We often get the the following questions and I will try to answer them beforehand to save us both some time:
Do I need to know how to sail?
ABSOLUTELY NOT- we will take care of business and if you are up for it we will teach you everything there is to know about life onboard a sailing boat.
Can I travel with you for free if I help out on the boat?
No sorry- we are far from rich so we must ask you to contribute with the costs onboard. A sailing boat is like a black whole when it comes to money so everything we get goes back to the boat. If we ever win the lottery in the future we will take you guys around the world for free!!
What duties do I need to be part of during my time onboard?
We only ask that you help out with food cooking and keeping the boat nice and tidy. Most of our guests wants to be part of the sailing but if you just wanna chill out and enjoy the cruise from behind a good book- please feel free! Just keep in mind that this is our home and we like it clean and well organized. We will take good care of you all the way but remember that this is not a charter boat so don´t expect us to iron your clothes and make your bed every day!!
How will I sleep onboard the boat during my stay?
We have 3 available rooms for our crew-members, in each room you will find a double bed. Depending of what type of trip we do, how many people we are onboard, you might have a room for yourself or you might have to share it with someone.
How should I pack my belongings?
A soft bag is way better that a hard suitcase. This is because we normally store your bags away outside your room. A hard suitcase will take to much space onboard.
Is diving included in the running costs?
No it´s not! If you are a licensed diver and know what you are doing we will ask you for a small contribution to fill up the tanks. If you don’t have your own equipment you can borrow it form us for a small buck. Some of the diving around the world is pretty dangerous with very strong currents and these places requires a dive master with local knowledge- we will not let you out on a suicide dive on your own in these places. We do have a dive-master onboard so even if you are not a licensed diver you will have the chance to do some diving!
About dates, deadlines and destinations!!
Before you come and sail with us it is important that you do understand that it is VERY hard for us even sometimes impossible to keep exact dates or even destinations due to current weather and winds conditions.
Bay Dreamer is not a ferry with powerful engines that will push trough any weather conditions, nor is she a charter boat that operates in a small area where you can motor around in almost any weather, we are most of the times covering big distances and we constantly need to adapt our plans to the current weather conditions!
This requires that our crew are flexible and are able to keep smiling even if we need to change the original plan . Sometimes we can get stuck in one place for a couple days cause of the weather and it is nothing we can do about it.
Will you entertain me at all times?
No- we wont! We are sailors- not clowns or travelling-guides. We will take you to amazing places but it is up to you and your own “adventure-spirit “ to entertain yourself. Take a machete and smash yourself trough the jungle, find yourself a couple of manta-rays or why not get drunk with the local fishermen. Do your own research and make sure you make the most of all the places we visit! Keep in mind that most of the places we arrive to are new for us as well and we don’t have a clue of what to do and where to do it!
What is included in the cost for a paying crew onboard Bay Dreamer?
Bay Dreamer is a non-profit boat. We are not making any money from our guests but we are all sharing the expenses while sailing together. The running cost of Bay Dreamer is 500 euro/week per person. This covers food, water diesel, cooking-gas, maintenance, spare-parts, sat-communication, boat insurance etc. Alkohol, personal snacks and hygien products is not included!
